As the housing market continues its slow recovery in 2013,
many people are asking whether homeowners associations are still needed or even
relevant. AMMCOR CEO Dianne Davega is a firm proponent, because HOAs keep
neighborhoods beautiful, attractive, and valuable. AMMCOR represents a broad
portfolio that covers over 15,000 homes throughout Orange County.
Dianne Davega oversees a team of certified managers who make decisions that
ultimately benefit the area they serve.
Despite the dues, Dianne Davega argues that HOAs provide
amenities and services that serve the greater good. Many of these offering are
determined based on whether the home is in a rural or urban area and whether
the property is a house, condominium, or town home. Some subdivisions will
offer community clubhouses that include tennis courts and swimming pools.
Dianne Davega believes that these advantages improve the quality of life by
adding value to the neighborhood.
Furthermore, HOAs provide services such as tree removal,
says Dianne Davega. It can cost hundreds to several thousands to have trees
removed, especially in an urban area. However, some HOAs include this as an
expendable service for homeowners. Those in condominiums can also take care of
the repair options that HOAs offer, says Dianne Davega. Regardless, the level
of services provided by an HOA is typically correlated with the cost of the
dues.
